Finishing

For finishing with stains, we use Minwax stains unless otherwise requested.   Here is a link where you can view all 107 samples Minwax has to choose from.   Simply click on the highlighted text.  Wood finishes, Gel stains, and Watersheen stains are included in the cost of the bed.  Minwax also offers Tint Base Stains, and Polyshade stains.   Tint base stains require two coats to get the correct shading.  I do ask that the customer cover the extra stain used and the extra time it takes to apply it.  Poly shades are a stain and polyeurathane mix, and require three coats to arrive at the correct shading.   As with the Tint bases, I do ask the extra cost of stain plus the extra time for the two additional coats.

If you want to have your bed painted, we use Rustoleum Spray paints unless otherwise requested.  The priming coat is included in the cost of the bed, but we do ask the cost of the paint as well as the time to apply it as an added cost.

Delivery and Set Up

We do provide delivery and set up.  The charge for this varies with distance.   We have delivered beds as far as Kearney, NE and Woodridge, IL, which is a suburb of Chicago.   Whenever possible, we do bring multiple orders at once, that way  we can spread the cost out and lower the charge for everyone.  We ask that you be flexible with scheduling to accommodate the grouping of orders together.  You may also opt to pick your order up and set it up yourself if you wish.

Contact Information

Assembly Instructions

We have received a few contacts from past customers in regards to instructions on taking our bunk beds apart for moving.  Our assembly manuals are a little big to post in their entirety here, but I have worked up a short version that you should be able to copy and paste onto your computer and print at your convenience.  If you wish to have the full version, please contact us and we will mail one to you.
Universal Assembly Instructions

Tools needed:  Drill or ratchet, ½” socket, Phillips screwdriver, short ladder to make assembling top bunk easier- optional

Step 1: Bottom bed rails will be the ones that have the unstained slat cleats on them. Line up lag bolts with the pilot holes in the bed rail. Attach one of the bottom bed rails to one bed end, using the two lowest holes on the bed end, and using lag bolts and washers provided.  Do not over tighten lag bolts, just snug them up.  It is easiest to tilt the bed end and have one end of bed rail on the floor.  Repeat for the second bed rail.

Step 2: Align pilot holes on one of the bed rails with lowest holes on the second bed end. Attach the second bed end, using four of the lag bolts and washers provided.   Do not tighten the lags all the way down on the second side, leave about a one inch gap.

Step 3: This will take two people. Lift one of the remaining bed rails and attach to the side that will be against the wall. Align pilot holes in bed rail with the third and fourth holes down from the bed end, and using four of the lag bolts and washers provided, fasten the end tight to bed end.   Do not over tighten bolts.  Attach other end, leaving a one inch gap.  Repeat the bed rail attachment with the second top bed rail, and fastening in the same fashion.

Step 4: Lay in under mattress slats in the cleat slots in the lower bunk.   Repeat process for the top bunk.  Lay OSB sheeting into the each bunk on top of the slats.

Step 5: Lift the full length safety rail above the bed rail that will be against the wall, align pilot holes in the safety rail with top two holes in bed ends.   Using the lag bolts provided, attach one end securely, and leaving a one inch gap in the other.

Step 6: Lift the short safety rail into place. The short rail is to be used on the front of bed for a front mount ladder. Align holes in safety rail and attach the end of rail to bed end using the lag bolts and washers provided. Insert spacer underneath the end away from attached end.  Using the 2” drywall screws provided, attach leg of safety rail to bed rail.

Step 7: Beginning from the bottom to top tighten the loose bed end. With carpet, you may have to slightly lift the bed end to get the end to tighten up completely to the bed. Do not over tighten the lags in any step in this process, just snug them up.

Step 8:  Slide ladder into place and secure with screws provided, as needed.

To take the bunk bed apart to move, simply reverse the order, starting with Step 8 and moving to Step 1.
